About us
For nearly 30 years, South West Animal Health Centre has provided professional, caring and affordable health care to our community for pets of all sizes and species as well as large animal services including reproduction, herd performance evaluation and routine production animal procedures. We have a well-earned reputation for delivering quality veterinary care, at affordable prices with compassion and understanding.
Through consistent growth, based on the quality of our service, we now have the opportunity to welcome a new Small Animal Veterinarian team member who will join us in the next exciting phase of our journey.

About this role
Our particular need at this time is for a Small Animal Veterinarian with a broad range of skills across a variety of companion animals from dogs to cats to pocket pets and more, although we are happy to also consider a Mixed Animal Vet too.
As a veterinary professional, you already have a pretty good idea of the day-to-day requirements of being a talented Small Animal Veterinarian. Here are some of the key skills that we are seeking that are particularly relevant to this opportunity:
- Soft tissue surgery
- Working up cases and developing corresponding treatments
- Small animal dentistry
- Diligent and diverse patient care inclusive from pediatrics to geriatrics
Our preference is for this to be a full-time permanent position however we are happy to consider a part-time role for the right applicant.

About you
Your qualifications, expertise and experience are certainly essential to your success in this role and it is expected that you will demonstrate ability and skill as a Small Animal Veterinarian. In addition, these qualities are important to us:

Our location
Swift Current is located at the junction of Highway #4 and the TransCanada Highway #1. The city is home to over 17 000 residents and serves the vast South-West Region of Saskatchewan. Our thriving community supports many local events year-round and schools, medical resources and sporting facilities are of a high standard. All this and more makes our location an ideal environment for individuals, couples and families alike.

Our offer
In order to attract talented veterinary professionals like you, we have a flexible approach to remuneration based on your expertise and potential – typically this can incorporate:
- A competitive salary in the range of $80,000 – 100,000+ that will reflect your skills, expertise and dependent on experience
- Production bonus: based on professional fees earned
- Relocation expense negotiable
- Sign-on bonus: $10,000 – $30 000 depending on the length of the contract agreed upon
Plus
- 3 weeks annual leave the first year with 4 weeks in subsequent years
- 3 days/year for continuing education plus $1500/year for this purpose
- Licensing fees for SVMA and CVMA paid
- Medical, dental and vision insurance options
- 3 days/year leave for family emergencies
In addition to the above, we are also happy to consider other remuneration alternatives that may better suit your needs which we will be happy to explore as our discussions develop.
